Start with El Carmen for Old Town bars and live music, or Ruzafa for dinner followed by drinks. Head towards the beach for an evening in El Cabanyal, and look at the City of Arts and Sciences when you want a proper club night. Valencia nightlife gives you several different evenings within the same city, so choose the area before choosing the bar.
You can spend the night over tapas and a cocktail, catch a concert or keep dancing into the morning. For a wider trip, our Spain travel guide helps you work Valencia into your plans.

Where to go out in Valencia at a glance
The best area depends on whether you want somewhere to talk, somewhere to hear music or somewhere to dance.
| Area | The scene | Best for |
| El Carmen | Historic streets, terrace bars and live music | A first evening in the Old Town |
| Ruzafa | Restaurants, cocktails and craft beer | Dinner and drinks in one neighbourhood |
| Cánovas | Restaurants and bars around the Gran Vía area | An evening of dinner and cocktails |
| Benimaclet | Cultural cafés and small performances | Poetry, concerts and a neighbourhood evening |
| El Cabanyal and the Marina | Seaside venues and cultural spaces | Combining beach time with an evening out |
| City of Arts and Sciences | Large clubs including MYA | A late night built around dancing |
El Carmen for bars and music in the Old Town
El Carmen is a useful starting point for your first night in Valencia. The streets around Plaça del Tossal and Plaça del Negrito put bars and terraces within an easy wander of each other. Have dinner nearby, then see whether you fancy another drink or a live set.

For Agua de Valencia, Café de las Horas is on Calle Conde de Almodóvar, near the cathedral. The elaborate interior makes the setting part of the visit. The café says it does not take reservations, so keep your evening flexible. For music, Radio City on Calle Santa Teresa publishes a programme of concerts, flamenco and DJ nights. Go for the event that interests you rather than assuming every night has the same soundtrack.
Ruzafa for dinner followed by drinks
Ruzafa, also written Russafa, is the neighbourhood to choose when dinner is half the reason you are going out. There is a wide restaurant choice, followed by bars that make it easy to stay in the area after eating. Streets including Calle Sueca and Calle Cádiz give you a starting point.
For craft beer, Olhöps has rotating taps alongside bottles and cans. It is a useful alternative to making every stop a cocktail bar. Ruzafa nightlife suits an evening with a loose plan: book dinner if you have somewhere specific in mind, then leave room for a drink afterwards.
Cánovas for an evening around Gran Vía
The Cánovas area is another option for restaurants and drinks, particularly around the streets off Gran Vía Marqués del Túria. Calle Salamanca is one place to start looking. Choose somewhere for dinner, then move on to a bar nearby.
This is a useful second-evening choice if you have already spent a night around El Carmen and want to try another part of the city. Keep the plan local. There is little reason to turn a straightforward dinner-and-drinks evening into a tour of every nightlife district.
Benimaclet for a smaller cultural venue
Benimaclet is worth considering when you would rather hear a performance than spend the whole evening moving between bars. Its proximity to the universities gives the neighbourhood a student presence, but the cultural spaces offer reasons to visit beyond that.
KafCafe, on Plaça d’Emili Beüt i Belenguer, describes itself as a literary café and meeting place. Its programme includes poetry, concerts and other cultural activities. Check what is on before going, especially if you do not speak Spanish and want to choose a performance you can follow. This is an evening to organise around the programme.
El Cabanyal and the Marina for an evening by the sea
Choose this side of Valencia when you want the beach and your evening out to fit into the same day. El Cabanyal gives you a neighbourhood base near the seafront, while the Marina is another area to explore for waterside venues. Decide where you are finishing before arranging the journey back.

La Fábrica de Hielo is an independent cultural space near Cabanyal beach, housed in a former ice factory. Its programme includes music and other events, making it worth checking when you want something beyond a bar terrace. Choose a particular event, or combine an earlier drink with a walk by the sea. For outdoor venues, use the current programme for your travel dates.
Valencia clubs around the City of Arts and Sciences
For a night centred on dancing, look at the clubs around the City of Arts and Sciences. MYA is one of the main names here, with a programme covering music including reggaeton, house and techno. The session you choose determines the night, so read the line-up before buying.
This is where the timetable changes. MYA’s published late-October 2026 night sessions start at 11.59pm and run until 7am. Have dinner first and allow for the journey there. L’Umbracle’s outdoor terrace is another name you will see when researching Valencia clubs, but check its own event calendar for your dates. A summer terrace photograph gives you very little information about a winter night’s programme.
What a night out costs and when it starts
For a real drinks-price reference, Café de las Horas lists a half-litre jug of Agua de Valencia for two at €14, with its signature cocktails priced at €12.50. Sharing that jug works out at €7 each before food or anything else you order. These are examples from one venue, rather than a price list for every Valencia bar.
Club admission adds another cost. MYA’s 29 October 2026 ticket listing showed €22 entry with one drink included. Other dates and special events have their own prices. Compare the final ticket cost and inclusions, then add dinner and transport to your budget.
Music can start well before the club doors open. Radio City’s published programme includes performances at 9pm and 10.30pm, depending on the evening. A concert and a midnight club session are different plans, so choose your timing around the event you actually want to attend.
Getting home after a night out
The Old Town, the beach and the City of Arts and Sciences are separate parts of Valencia. Staying in one area for most of the evening saves you repeated journeys, particularly if you only have a short city break.
Check your return route through EMT València or Metrovalencia for the day and time you intend to travel. Look at the last departure from your stop. For a night that runs beyond public transport, include a licensed taxi in the budget.
Best time to go and how to choose
Valencia has nightlife throughout the year. For a short trip, Friday and Saturday give you a useful starting point, but a midweek performance can be a reason to choose another evening. Radio City, for example, currently lists its regular flamenco night on Tuesdays.
Summer gives you more reason to build an evening around the seafront and outdoor spaces. In cooler months, restaurants, indoor bars and concert venues still offer plenty to organise a trip around. March’s Fallas celebrations bring a different city rhythm, with street events and road closures. Choose that period for the festival itself.
For a first visit, we would start with El Carmen or Ruzafa, then use a second evening for the beach or a particular music event. If you are still choosing between destinations, our Portugal nightlife guide offers another way to compare the kind of trip you want.
